Lessons

When considering the differences between formal conservatory training and self-directed learning or informal lessons, it's important to recognize the limitations and challenges inherent in the latter approach. While there are outliers and exceptional talents in every field, including music, the comprehensive and structured nature of conservatory training generally leads to a level of skill and knowledge that is difficult to match through self-study or casual instruction. Conservatory training is the highest music training in the world.

For those who do not aim to become professional musicians, my approach to learning music will enhance musical appreciation, build or refine new skills, and alleviate work-related stress. Young students will have the chance to gain a deep understanding and appreciation of music while also boosting their self-esteem and character. Every student can develop their innate musical potential at their own pace within a friendly and supportive environment.

I specialize in conservatory training, in classical performance repertoire and the Oregon Music Teachers Association Piano Syllabus Examination of music theory, sight-reading, rhythm reading, repertoire, expression, and technique up to Level 10. I aim to make my students develop an unbreakable technical foundation built upon tried-and-true principles and become real musicians — not just “piano players.” I will tailor the curriculum to match your child’s specific needs.
